About Nathaniel Attard

Nathaniel Attard is a 19-year-old Maltese musical theatre performer who has been singing and on stage since the age of four. From a young age, music and theatre have been his greatest passions, and over the years, he has evolved into a versatile artist, performing in multiple languages, including Maltese, English, Spanish, and Italian. He has appeared at numerous festivals both locally and internationally, gracing stages in Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Sicily, Naples, and beyond.

With a strong foundation in live performance, Nathaniel has had the privilege of performing with various bands, including the Malta Police Force Band and DCapitals Big Band, at prominent events such as festivals, weddings, and Christmas concerts. He has also been a part of vocal ensembles like Senior Vocal Troupes and the Malta National Children’s Choir, gaining valuable experience in both solo and ensemble performances.

In 2019, Nathaniel won Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza with his original song "Burdati" and followed this success with a victory at the first edition of KantaMaghna, which led to regular guest performances with the DCapitals Big Band. In 2022, he reached the finals of Sanremo CantaNapoli, performing a duet with renowned tenor Francesco Malapena. Later that year, Nathaniel was selected for prestigious workshops in Los Angeles with VocalStar, an honor awarded to only 200 participants from 13,000 auditionees worldwide.

Nathaniel’s formal performing arts training began in 2017, and he has since achieved a Distinction in Grade 8 Musical Theatre from Trinity College London. He has further honed his craft through workshops with Broadway stars such as Laura Bell Bundy, Thayne Jasperson, Beth Leavel, Erika Henningsen, and Alistair Brammer. His talent has also been showcased on television, where he was a semi-finalist in Brillanti Goes Musicals.

Nathaniel’s theatre credits in Malta include:

  • Rolf Gruber in The Sound of Music (Teatru Astra, directed by Christopher Gatt)

  • Title role in ÄŠikku & The Chocolate Panto (Masquerade Malta, directed by Anthony Bezzina)

  • Ensemble in The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy (Arthaus, directed by Lucienne Camilleri)

In September 2023, Nathaniel embarked on his next major adventure, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Theatre at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This has already opened new doors, including the opportunity to perform in The Phantom of the Opera during the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe with Captivate Theatre.

He is eager to see what the future has in store!
